About Us -
The West Springfield Crew Team

Quote

"Remember the feel of the oar in your hand, the swing, the perfect catch, the pull, the drive and the run of the boat beneath you. But most importantly, never forget that the glory is not in you or any individual. Instead, remember that the glory is always in the team."

About WS Crew

West Springfield Crew was started in 1987 by two students with the interest and desire to row and compete with other high schools.

The WS Crew Team is dedicated to providing an opportunity for West Springfield High School students to learn the sport of rowing. The club fosters a competitive rowing environment and encourages the development of good sportsmanship and the art of teamwork.

Location

Our boathouse is located on 10450 Van Thompson Road in Fairfax Station at the Sandy Run Rowing Facility. We row on the Occoquan River and share our boathouse (Boathouse #3) with Langley, Robinson, Thomas Jefferson, and South County high schools.

Affiliations

The WS Crew team is comprised of WSHS students and does not receive any funding from either the high school or WSHS Boosters to sustain our operations. Club membership dues pay our coaches and operating expenses. We are members of the National Capital Area Scholastic Rowing Association (NCASRA).

Crew Boosters

All crew parents automatically become members of the West Springfield Crew Booster Club (WSCBC). The WSCBC is the support group for the rowing program. The governing body for the WSCBC is the elected Board of Directors, assisted by appointed Board members.

The WS Crew Team is a not for profit 503(c)(3) organization, making any donations fully tax deductible.
